This is an off screen comparison video between the PS Vita’s Uncharted and Nintendo 3DS’s Resident Evil: Revelations. As you can see, the 3DS holds up quite well to the Vita. Despite the obvious difference in resolution, the visual quality between both games is stunningly similar. To be fair, Uncharted has some textures that have higher resolution, resulting in crisper textures, but the visual advantage is minimal. Although I do not doubt it’s power, the visual quality of the Vita does not seem to surpass the 3DS’s visuals by too much.  The gap between handheld graphics is even less than the difference between the PSP and the DS. Here,  the difference is more like the visual difference between the original Xbox and the Gamecube.  Both systems had amazing graphics for their time, but the Xbox had slightly shinier shiny stuff and slightly grassier grass.

The similarity in power is a great thing for both platforms.  Hopefully this means more multi-platform gaming for all to enjoy.

…I’ll just be enjoying it in 3D.
