Nintendo Connect

Although not set to release in Japan until April 19, 2012, Nintendo is already detailing some of the new features for the 3DS’s upcoming strategy-RPG, Fire Emblem: Awakening. As previously known, the latest entry will return to the free-map system, allowing players to journey across the world map to shops and battles as they choose. Also, when an attacking unit has an ally adjacent to him, both units will be able to enter the battle and dual-strike the opponent at the same time. And then there’s the DLC. Can’t forget about that.

However, the game will follow the tale of two main characters. The first is Krom, prince of the Kingdom of Iris. The second character is one that YOU create and customize to your own liking, allowing you to adjust their gender, their appearance, and their abilities, among other things. The heroes’ paths cross, and it becomes a major part of the storyline. I’m excited to see how else the series will evolve. Hopefully we’ll have an American and European release date soon!
