Wondering what’s next for the Pokémon series? Well, yesterday Junichi Masuda, the director of Pokémon, posted an entry on Gamefreak’s blog declaring that he had a “VERY important announcement” to make today on Japan’s “Pokémon Smash!” TV show.

On this coming Sunday, Februrary 26, 2012, from 7:30 A.M,
I, Masuda, will be appearing on TV TOKYO’s Show, “Pokémon Smash!”

Not only that.
And there…

I will be making a VERY important announcement,
so be sure not to miss it!!

Watch it live on TV!”

What was so important, then? Why make a huge ordeal out of it on national (Japanese) television? The answer is simple, really:

Pokémon Black 2 & White 2 for the Nintendo DS, available in Japan in June 2012.

Not remakes, but entire sequels. Definitely not something I expected!! Was it worth the wait?
