Nintendo Connect

The 3DS. An amazing handheld with a lot of ups and downs. From a rocky start to new colors to a quick price drop to the large/ugly/non-portable yet comfortable Circle Pad Pro, this device has  seen a lot of action. We predicted that Nintendo would announce a new 3DS design this year and listed many reasons why it should. But the little handheld that could has been selling VERY well in some places, much better than anticipated (heck, better than the original DS juggernaut). It has been rumored that Nintendo will be presenting a new 3DS with better battery life and a second analog stick, but is that even relevant now that the 3DS has been doingso well? Surfing on amazon.com’s 3DS page, you’ll see this:

Not only is the online retail giant NOT directly selling the unit, it’s even more expensive on the marketplace! Although this has mysteriously occurred frequently at Amazon in North America, this problem has also occurred in Nintendo’s homeland of Japan where amazon.jp has ALSO sold out of 3DS units. This could easily mean that the 3DS is so popular that there is a huge demand and it may not be a big deal at all, but will Nintendo finally address the physical issues of the 3DS at E3? Tune in next week to find out.
