Nintendo Connect

Hey Guys! I just love messing around with the dolphin emulator and making videos.  Today I captured 1080p video of Goldeneye 007 for Wii!  I was Instantly curious as to how this compared with the PS3 remake of the game.  So I captured that as well.

First Note: This comparison is for fun.

2nd Note: Wii (dolphin footage) is in full 1080p, the PS3 footage could only capture in 720p since that game doesn’t run any higher than that.

3rd Note: I am so much better at Wii remote/ Nunchuck setup… look how terrible I was on the PS3 dual analog.

Comparison Video

Here’s the comparison video… it runs at 1080p… I didn’t split screen it because the games run at different paces and it looked bad.  However, I did include the full resolution renders under this one.  So, if you have 2 monitors like I do, you can put one video on each screen.  One thing to notice is because The Wii version is being emulated at 1080p it is much crisper.  The PS3 version has better textures especially on the character models themselves.  The ground is shinier and the lighting is better, most likely Due to the different engine used in this port. Regardless of the differences, I do think the Wii version is fairly comparable to the PS3 version.  Had the Wii only output at higher resolutions, (even without hi res textures, bump mapping and HDR lighting), just getting rid of the jagginess that is 480p makes a HUGE difference.  I wonder had the fabled Wii HD come out in 2009 as rumored, if the wii would be as dead and abandoned as it has become.  Or, would developers had supported it any better? … I guess we’ll never know.
